I am delighted that my rejected entry to the de Young Open 2023, Harmonic Dissonance, is included in “Refusés of the Bay”, a collaboration between Voss Gallery and Metal Haus Gallery in San Francisco. This art project of two curated exhibitions and an online catalog features Bay Area artists whose work was inexplicably overlooked by the jurors of The de Young Open.

Another opportunity to see my Butterfly Table is coming up at O'Hanlon Center for the Arts in Mill Valley February 7-25, 2023. A New Perspective showcases art by artists inspired to produce a body of work using new and different materials, techniques and ideas during the Covid lockdown.

This year I have been focusing my attention on mandalas and other geometric compositions. I find the process of designing these motifs using mathematical principles mentally stimulating while the act of painting the final version relaxes me.

Back when I first decided to create an artist website I wanted to use the domain kittygordon.com only to find out that it was already taken by a band in Austin, Texas called Kitty Gordon. So I decided on kittygsculpture.com instead.

I am pleased that three of my Cartoneria sculptures are included in the Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association 58th Annual Nor-Cal Regional Juried Art Show. La Abeja Ocupada was awarded First Place.

It goes without saying that the past year and a half has been challenging. I am so grateful to continue to be able to make art during the pandemic. It has been a much needed creative outlet.

Mondays and Fridays are the days when I like to go to my studio and make art and that was my original plan for today, a Friday, after I finished doing chores around the house.

I am pleased that two of my cartoneria sculptures, Que Onda? and La Abeja Ocupada, are currently on display and for sale as part of All Creatures Great & Small a virtual art exhibit through Healdsburg Center for the Arts.

It is now week six of the stay-at-home order here in California and, as for everyone, this has been a very difficult time. Fortunately, I am still able to work in my studio a couple of times a week but I’ve been so distracted that I don’t seem to get much accomplished.

I’ve recently been making quilled greeting cards. It’s been so much fun coming up with new designs. I have completed four cards just in time for Valentine’s Day which are for sale in my Etsy Shop.
