Portfolio Update

It goes without saying that the past year and a half has been challenging. I am so grateful to continue to be able to make art during the pandemic. It has been a much needed creative outlet. I've never been a very prolific artist so I would not say my output has been great; I’ve only made three new works so far in 2021. Although in my defense, one of those pieces was a very detailed painted pedestal table. Nevertheless, going to my studio to create always gives me great pleasure no matter how much time I spend there.

One thing that fell by the wayside, however, was documenting new work and keeping my portfolio up to date. This past week I devoted myself to photographing all of the new sculptures I have made since the spring of 2020. During this period I have focused mainly on painting with acrylics. It is a medium I never thought much about until I began making cartonería sculptures. Now I cannot get enough of it. I am especially proud of the pedestal table that I painted this year, an old wooded table used as a plant stand for many years. It became water stained over time and when I no longer needed it for that purpose I decided to give it new life as a work of art.

Below is a selection of new images. You can see more in the Painted Objects and Cartoneria sections of my portfolio.
