I am excited that my sculpture La Abeja Ocupada will be available for sale as a part of SNAP! at Arc Studios and Gallery in San Francisco.

2019 has turned out to be a pretty great year for me artistically. I moved into a new studio in February and I have lots of ideas and inspiration for more art. So many ideas that I wish I had more time to spend creating but for now I’m doing the best I can to keep up with my own excitement and motivation.

Way back in 2010 I opened a shop on Etsy. The purpose was to showcase and sell my bottle cap art. Unfortunately, I didn’t spend a lot of time on it and it generated only a handful of sales. Less than a year later I made the shop inactive as I began to focus on other work. Now I have decided to reopen the shop!

For the past seven months I have been very inspired and excited to make art. This is the best I have felt about my creative practice in a long time. Having a new space in which to explore and create has really got me focused and motivated.

I’m not sure exactly when it started. My creative spirit was waning. I remember I was in Colorado in the summer of 2016 at the annual stone carving symposium that I have attended many times before. For some reason the sculptures I was working on just didn’t feel right to me.

“A SCULPTURE EXHIBITION” at Marin Society of Artists opened April 5 and will run through April 30, 2017. The exhibition is in celebration of International Sculpture Day and features 72 sculptures from 49 sculptors, most from the Bay Area.

I am pleased to be a part of this upcoming sculpture exhibition in celebration of Internal Sculpture Day which is April 24th. The exhibition runs April 5th to April 30th in San Rafael.

For the past few years I've been experimenting with paper and making collages. Specifically, I've been using catalogs as the material source. It's fun and a little bit addictive. I've even made a couple of books.

Ten years ago, as a resident artist at the Mendocino Art Center I created a sculpture called Progression Structure #7. It was made of conduit tubing that was overstock from a construction job site. This sculpture was part of a series that was based on a system of numbers and was included in a one person show I had at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts called Permutations.

I'm pleased to announce that I will be exhibiting some of my metal sculptures at Lireille on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland this month and next. Please join me at the Artists Reception on June 3rd.

Please join me Friday, February 5th for Art Murmur at American Steel Studios. I will be showing a variety of work I've completed in the last 18 months including collage, box sculptures, unidentified metal objects (UMOs), poetry books, other hand-crafted items and even a chess set.

I enjoy podcasts, especially while I am working in my studio. Recently, I’ve been listening to Michael Ian Black’s How To Be Amazing. At the end of each interview Black asks his guests to describe the best and worst advice they ever received.

I am excited that two of my box sculptures have been selected for the 2015 Fall Annual Juried Exhibit at the Falkirk Galleries in San Rafael, CA.

While creating my most recent body of work, CONTAIN, I made a conscious decision to title each sculpture in a way that was minimally informative. This stemmed from my desire to give the viewer a chance to develop their own idea or story behind each piece.

Lately, I have been reflecting on how my art has evolved over time and the common themes that have arisen. Throughout, the most consistent element of my artmaking has been my process. Rather than conceiving an idea and then figuring out how to create it, I allow the medium I'm working with to guide me to the end result without any preconceived notion of what the final outcome may be.

For the past five months or so I have been making metal box sculptures using scrap steel and random objects that I have been collecting for many years. The creation process is a lot of fun.

On October 3rd, at Art Murmur at American Steel Studios, I unveiled The Postcard Project. It was an idea I hatched the week prior after having unexpectedly come into possession of 100 postcards with images by graphic artist James Jean.

On the evening of June 5, 2014 I missed a step coming down the stairs at home and broke my foot. It was the fifth metatarsal, to be exact, and my first broken bone ever. The doctor told me to expect it to take at least 10 to 12 weeks for my foot to heal.
