My art making often involves repetitive tasks. Repeating the same action over and over again, hundreds of times, is very calming. It soothes me. It gives me a place to go where I can be quiet, be still. I focus on what my hands are doing and let my mind wander. I consider the art that I am making. I look for meaning from within. I absorb the materials that I am handling. I let the work guide me, show me the way into a space that is open and free. And it is in this space that I begin to find what I am searching for.
