About Me
In 1999, after seven years of working in the field of accounting, I decided to pursue a degree in fine art. While studying at the College of Marin and California College of the Arts (then known as California College of Arts and Crafts) I developed an interest in stone carving, metal casting, welding and fiber sculpture. It was also then that I began creating art with recycled materials, including bottle caps. I am still passionate about all of these mediums. I have never been happier since allowing myself to pursue my dream of being an artist. But I never forget my analytical background. In many ways my skills as an accountant influence how I approach my art practice and shape the way I explore new forms and ideas.
About My Process
My artmaking often involves repetitive tasks. Repeating the same action over and over again, hundreds of times, is very calming. It soothes me and gives me a place to go where I can be quiet and still. I focus on what my hands are doing and let my mind wander. I become aware of the materials that I am handling. I let the work guide me and show me the way into a space that is open and free. It is within this space that I begin to find what I am searching for.
